For a celebration with nature:
Zülpich. Veneer is the thinnest solid wood in the world - a natural and renewable material. It impresses with its ecological sustainability, as it is robust, durable and resource-efficient. For this year's Advent and Christmas season, many shops are offering a wide selection of decorations made from real wood veneer.
‘This is a wonderful trend that allows us to make a small contribution to combating climate change,' says Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Managing Director of the Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN), explaining further: ‘The environmentally friendly use of veneer causes no damage to the environment and avoids unnecessary consumption of resources. It's a good feeling that adds to the anticipation of the pre-Christmas season, which is about to begin.'
Wood products have always provided cosiness during the cold season and are regaining popularity thanks to their versatile design options. Unique Christmas decorations made of flexible veneer, only a few millimetres thick, are available in numerous colours and shapes: St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, reindeer and other animal figures, sleighs, angels in various sizes, fir trees, snowmen, stars and much more. The selection of Advent and Christmas decorations made of veneer is almost limitless.
The artistically crafted pieces are laser-cut or printed, for example. The natural and sustainably sourced veneer complements the Advent wreath, the Christmas tree, the Christmas pyramid sparkling in the candlelight and carved nativity figures in a timeless way. If stored carefully, the decorations can be used for many years. And if you do want something new, the decorations can be disposed of in a particularly environmentally friendly way.
‘You can now also find numerous tasteful Christmas veneer products online. But be careful: some items may look like wood, but are made of other materials. That's why it's important to make sure that you're actually buying real wood,' concludes Klaas. IFN/DS
