J Grabner Ltd: Sauna with individual veneer surface

Bonn/Roitham. 30 percent of the European population likes to go to the sauna. People living in the north go more often than those living in the European south. Interest in saunas is increasing everywhere, because the benefits for circulation, skin and genuine relaxation, i.e. for health, are becoming increasingly well known. A sauna is traditionally made of wood. The renewable natural material heats up well and offers optimal moisture regulation. These exceptional basic properties are also found in plywoods in combination with precious veneer surfaces. The highlight: The design thus varies completely individually, depending on the preferences and wishes of the clientele. Gone are the days when all saunas with a light softwood look were the same. Whether in luxury hotels, on cruise ships or in private homes, saunas and heating cabins are individual design objects that blend harmoniously into their surroundings, thanks to the precious veneers. A natural look is currently in vogue, which the company J Grabner from Roitham in Austria has implemented in the lake event sauna at the Hotel Lürzerhof in Untertauern, also in Austria.

The used "Saunaboard" plywood panels in combination with noble woods of the variety "Salzkammergut oak Altaussee" allow incredible interior architectural effects. This is the perfect way to relax close to nature - and at the same time admire all the beauty of veneer as a surface: "The veneered boards used to equip the sauna built by Franz Schroll GmbH are manufactured in our board production facility from our own veneers," explains Managing Director Josef Grabner. The boards have been tested in accordance with ÖNORM M6219-1 and are therefore ideally suited for sauna construction. "The result is really something to be proud of," says Ursula Geismann, managing director of the Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) and a trend analyst of many years' standing, who is impressed by the project and continues: "The unique grain of the wood, which is so varied in the case of veneer, ensures genuine deep relaxation and a feeling of peace and security. The lake event sauna at Hotel Lürzerhof is one of these great examples of what can be created from and with the natural material veneer." (IFN/DS)

Initiative Veneer + Nature (IFN)
The Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) e.V. was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. Today it is supported by European companies from the veneer industry, the trade and the veneer processing industry as well as trade associations of the wood industry. The aim of the association is to promote veneer as a natural all-rounder.
