Roser AG:
Dark walnut veneer for pure reading pleasure
reading pleasure in the Schindellegi school library
Bonn/Birsfelden (Switzerland). The Maihof library in Schindellegi, Switzerland - located on the beautiful Lake Zurich - has been transformed into a real reading paradise with dark walnut veneer with light contrasting sapwood. The extravagant veneer was supplied by Roser AG from Birsfelden, while the elaborate work was carried out by MAB Möbel AG from the Swiss town of Muotathal.
A good 2,400 square meters of the fine material were required for the school library. "The idea was that the special look of the walnut veneer should imitate the spines of books in a library and create a particularly lively appearance," says Fabian Sager, who is responsible for veneer projects at Schweizer Roser AG. The two matching trunks were selected by the team of architects from "720° Architekten" in Pfäffikon SZ, also in Switzerland. "We used our own 'konzept.raum' for the selection. There, we displayed the different possible veneer variants on a large magnetic wall," says Sager. In the end, the choice fell on the dark walnut veneer of a wild walnut tree with lightly contrasting sapwood. "The wild, very varied structure of the veneer fits perfectly with the many, sometimes very colorful books in the library. A great example of how natural products in the form of attractive veneer and entertaining reading harmonize well together," says Ursula Geismann, Managing Director of Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) and long-time trend analyst, about the exciting project.
