Founded almost seventy years ago, List GC has been furnishing the interior of luxury yachts with wood veneers and top quality workmanship for more than 20 years. Due to the company's long-standing experience, the interior outfitters know that elaborately finished veneer surfaces do not happen by chance. At the beginning there is the search for the "right" tree. Each tree is different - whether hardwood or softwood, whether mahogany from the tropics of Africa, walnut from America or oak from European forests.
American black walnut, European maple, oak from Germany and walnut burl are currently particularly in demand for the interior design of yachts. Veneer is also one of the most sustainable forms of wood use. "Depending on the tree species, its origin and required veneer thickness, a log produces up to 5,000 square metres of veneer. Very many pieces of furniture and other interior elements of a yacht can therefore be finished with the veneer of one tree", reports Ursula Geismann, Secretary of Initiative Furnier + Natur e. V.
Whether it is brushed, ripple-planed or rough-sawn, the wood specialists of List GC can implement any veneer wish of their customers. Up to 20 different wood species are used on a yacht. Each of which is individually different. In the same way as no two trees are alike, no two veneer sheets are the same - the colour, figure and texture of each veneer sheet are unique. Early agreement on the wood species or veneer patterns between the veneer producer, the designer and the client is therefore absolutely necessary. The customers wishes are matched, wood species by wood species, pattern by pattern, until even the most unusual customer specifications are fulfilled. IFN/RK
Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) e.V. was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. Ebony, mahogany or tamo ash: Fine veneers finish the interior of yachts
Bad Honnef. Nothing conjures up a more exquisite and homely ambience in a room than fine veneer. The highly traditional and sustainable material has convincingly timeless beauty and elegance. The Austrian family-run business, List General Contractor (List GC), therefore only uses fine wood veneers for the interior outfitting of exclusive motor and sailing yachts. "Veneer not only creates attractive and perfect surfaces. Rather, furniture with veneer surfaces are also lighter than solid wood, which has a positive effect on the total weight of a yacht”", said Theresa Ludwiger-List, Speaker of the Board at List GC.Founded almost seventy years ago, List GC has been furnishing the interior of luxury yachts with wood veneers and top quality workmanship for more than 20 years.
