The freestanding kitchen island is a very popular piece of furniture among most people. Finished with fine veneer, it becomes a truly one-off item for particularly discerning standards. “Our individual kitchen block with its extensive, continuous veneer pattern combines an attractive appearance and function. The result is a compact unit, which optimises workflows in the kitchen”, explains the managing director of the furniture manufacturer Matthias Rempp, whose company and its workforce of more than 120 employees produces kitchens in the Schwarzwald region to high quality and design standards. “The attractive wood surface was attached to the piece of furniture with lots of feeling for detail. Combined with matching wooden handles and an attractive ceramic worktop, the result is a piece of furniture whose individual look is just as appealing to design-orientated cooking enthusiasts as it is to confirmed nature lovers”, said Rempp. Ursula Geismann finally added: “It would be great if more furniture manufacturers could find enthusiasm for this fantastic material. Veneer is pure nature, with convincing sustainability and which tastefully sets itself apart from the many wood imitations now used for furniture surfaces, which are worth seeing, but no matter how good they are, they are not natural.” IFN/DS

Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) e.V. was founded in 1996 by the German veneer industry and its partners. The purpose of the association based in Bad Honnef is to promote veneer as a material. It is funded and supported by European companies in the veneer industry, trade and the veneer processing industry as well as professional associations of the timber industry.
